Accomplishments

Allison Pickard is a strong proponent of collaborative leadership, and her record reflects a commitment to community-first policies, sustainability, and equitable growth. On the council, Allison:

  • Added new police, fire, and EMS personnel to meet demand and better serve our county; increased first responder pay; and invested in new police and fire vehicles and equipment to modernize our public safety offices

  • Passed numerous zoning code reforms to ensure affordability, attainability, and choice in our housing market

  • Added over 650 new teaching positions to reduce classroom size and keep up with growth

  • Funded the construction of four new school buildings, including a new high school

  • Approved infrastructure investments to repair damaged roads and sidewalks, add bike lanes, improve drainage systems to confront climate change, and modernize our public parks

  • Ensured that the county budget was balanced without compromising on essential community needs

  • Created the Resilience Authority to tackle environmental challenges and flooding in Anne Arundel County

  • Championed bipartisan revitalization projects, such as the Downtown Glen Burnie Town Center project
