Voters decided a tight three-way race in the Democratic Primary for Anne Arundel County executive to face off against the Republican nominee who ran unopposed.

James Kitchin, Allison Pickard and Pete Smith faced off in the Democratic Primary (a fourth suspended his campaign), and Republican Dave Crawford ran unopposed.

All night through 10:45 p.m. and with an estimated 64% of the votes counted, Pickard held onto the lead with Kitchin and Smith following in a tighter race for second and third, respectively.

At 12:17 a.m. Wednesday, the AP projected Pickard as the Democratic nominee with 42.5% of the vote.

Allison Pickard, a mother and the councilwoman representing District 2, said her priorities are public education, affordability and growing the county's economy. She brings a mix of county government, Board of Education and senior services experience to the race.

"The unique perspective that I bring is definitely that leadership from the Board of Education and the County Council, but also, it's my track record in getting results," Pickard told WBAL-TV 11 News.

"Every person deserves stability, security and dignity," said Allison Pickard, a Democratic primary candidate for Anne Arundel County Executive.

Anne Arundel County Councilwoman Allison Pickard, D-District 2, who represents the Glen Burnie area, has actively sought more information about the incident.

"In Glen Burnie, we, so far, only know what ICE agents reported happened that morning," Pickard told WBAL-TV 11 News.

Pickard emphasized the importance of body-worn cameras.

"In Anne Arundel County, we have implemented our police body-worn camera program. I have concerns that federal ICE agents are not in our community with the same kind of equipment or technology to make sure that all of the information gets out about what happens in these situations," Pickard told WBAL-TV 11 News.
